Role of Master Teacher
Master Teachers are assigned to the contracted Community Providers by the Union City Board of Education. It is recommended that there be (1) Master Teacher for every twenty (20) classrooms. The role of the Master Teacher is as follows:
- assure the class is of 15 children, with one certified teacher and one certified aide
- coach teachers in the daycare classroom regarding appropriate practice and activity
- assist the teachers in implementing the curriculum
- provide professional development for teachers
- coordinate assessment for the children
- provide parent workshops
- provide information on the district schools, including whole school reform models
- provide information regarding transition into district kindergarten classrooms
