You Can Work With Your Child To Help Strengthen The Following Skills

 

  • recognizing, stating , and writing child’s name
  • his/her age, birth-date, address and phone number
  • recognizing and drawing 8 basic shapes (square, circle, rectangle, triangle, oval, star, diamond, heart)
  • recognizing 11 basic colors (red, blue, green, yellow, brown, black, purple, orange, pink, white, gray)
  • cutting with a scissors
  • recognizing and reciting the letters of the alphabet
  • counting and recognizing numbers 1 to 10
  • matching quantity with numbers
  • identifying same and different
  • putting on and taking off coats
  • sitting and paying attention
  • speaking in complete sentences
  • following simple directions
  • retelling a story
**NOTE: Remember that children all grow and mature differently and learn at different times. Don’t be alarmed or worried if you child is not yet able to do some of the things mentioned at the exact same time as a friend the same age. With your help and patience, your child will eventually gain these skills. Children should not be pressured or “drilled.” We don’t want to turn them off to learning at such a young age.
