Program Goals

  • To integrate New Jersey State Department of Education Core Curriculum Content Standards and Early Childhood Education Expectations to classroom instruction.
  • To grow in self-esteem, cultural identity, curiosity, independence, and individual strengths.
  • To develop a respect for and an understanding of the differences in people.
  • To become critical thinkers, and be able to manipulate ideas and materials to develop an understanding about the content being discussed.
  • To develop language through an exposure to real literature on a daily basis.
  • To become proficient listeners, speakers, readers, and writers in an atmosphere in which each child feels important and shares responsibility for the group.
  • To participate in cooperative learning structures gaining the ability to see others’ perspectives and engaging in positive social behavior while accomplishing academic objectives.
  • To promote a student-centered learning environment which enables students to be mathematical thinkers and problem-solvers.
  • To encourage children to explore, discover, think, and make connections to the world around them.
  • To involve parents to be active participants in their child’s learning.
  • To encourage students to learn more effectively and independently by active "hands-on" participation.
